The Correction Virus

As we approach palm Sunday and Easter Sunday in 2020 we are experiencing a time like never before, or is history repeating itself? Many have chosen to panic and lose sight of who God is yesterday, today and forever so it is important to fellowship and be reminded of the inspired word of God. Read 1 John 2:15-17

Discussion Points:

1. Do not love this world or the things in it. So what are things of this world?

2. What are the cravings of the sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does?

3. Are we afraid because we desire this world instead of doing God's will in our lives? What is God's will for our life?

Confessions of a Sinner

My heart is constantly broken because I love my father God and yet still desire the things of this world. I know what he has done for me and I can never repay him for his mercy and grace so I hope that my daily repentance, my commitment to do his will in my life and my attempt at unconditional love for everyone is sufficient in His eyes to receive a, "Job well done, my son."

Things of this World that I struggle to let go of!

1. Money! At times I fear that I love money more than I should and it blinds me from the truth that God is trying to show me.

2. Sugar! I do not exercise enough to be careless about my food choices but it is a real struggle to turn away from the sugar in my life.

3. Power! The feeling of Lordship over my wife, kids, employees, knowledge, etc. is an intoxicating feeling and at times I get lost in the pride of my self-worth and lack compassion and/or selflessness.

Through this time of self-quarantine we are in isolation from the rat race that dominates our daily lives. For some it is like spending 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness because for once in our lives our distractions are being limited. There aren't restaurants open for us to order service while we wait on our phones for it to be delivered. There aren't department stores open for us to spend our last pennies at instead of giving and tithing. Movie stars, athletes, politicians are all being humbled and ignored. They are no longer on display and people are having to examine their own lives. What is God's will for our lives? Jesus makes it very clear at the Sermon on the Mount. Read Matthew 5:2-12.
